THE MAKING OF LIVERPOOL
An Award-Winning Animated Short Film

The Singh Twins bring to life their painting, Liverpool 800:The Changing Face of Liverpool (commissioned by the City of Liverpool to celebrating its 800th birthday in 2007) in this, their first animation film. 

Funded by Arts Council England, this “brilliant and magical film” presents a fascinating history of the artists’ home city of Liverpool, tracing its changing status, character and identity over the centuries - from a merchant maritime city, distinguished by scientific and social welfare innovations, to its current position as a thriving tourist destination known for its cultural diversity, arts and entertainment. In addition, it gives an insight into the Twins’ creative working process and their ongoing connections with Liverpool.

Involving artists connected with Liverpool for its production, the film also celebrates the creative talent of the city. Combining artwork, archive footage, poetry, photography, animation and music The Making of Liverpool is a captivating example of ‘art in motion’ which crosses the traditional boundaries between fine art and documentary.
